Alberta R. Richie was an American educator, civil rights leader, and community organizer. She was born in 1907 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in a racially segregated society. Richie earned her B.A. from Wilberforce University and later received her M.A. from the University of Cincinnati.
Richie was actively involved in the civil rights movement, working to improve education and advance opportunities for African Americans in society. She was a leader in the NAACP and served as the president of the Cincinnati Branch of the NAACP for many years.
In addition to her civil rights work, Richie was also a dedicated educator. She taught at Withrow High School in Cincinnati for over 30 years, where she inspired and empowered countless students.
Alberta R. Richie passed away in 1966, but her legacy lives on through her contributions to education and the civil rights movement. She is remembered for her passion for social justice and her tireless dedication to creating a more equitable society.
